The Karpaz Peninsula
is very different from the rest
of Cyprus, its wildlife, to a
great extent, protected.

It is not yet touched by encroaching development and
is known as the nature reserve of the island.

The area was in the Middle Ages one of the largest baronies under the Lusignans. The ancient ruins, towns, tombs, temples and basilicas complete with paintings and mosaics blend beautifully with nature.
